**What you will do**

Johnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship located in Milwaukee, Wi. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below. 

**How you will do it:**

The Software Engineering Intern will be part of our Data Strategy team and work alongside data scientists and domain experts, data architects to develop Brick mediated solutions in the Smart Buildings domain.

This internship will entail:

· Contributing to the data modeling/integration effort and possibly Brick open source · Creation of new tooling artifacts – in form of new data migration tools or mapping.

**Duration**: This will be a part-time internship during the school year with full-time hours beginning the summer of 2021 and ending in August 2021.

**What we look for**

**Required Qualifications:**

- Enrolled in BS/Graduate degree in Computer Science/Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Good programming skills in Python, and at least one additional object-oriented language such as C++ and Javax
- Experience with programming on Linux/Unix/MacOS and Windows
- Experience with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server
- Experience with semantic web technologies, RDF/OWL/Sparql is a big plus
- Good understanding of source control systems like Github
- Knowledge of/familiarity with GraphQL is desirable
- Prior internship experiences in the fields of IoT (Smart Buildings in particular) are a big plus
- Ability to learn new things and implement things around it
- Strong written skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical analyses and results to other engineers are required
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
- Where legally permissible, as a condition of employment, you will be required on your first day of employment, to show written proof that you have been fully vaccinated Against Covid-19 or that you have a valid medical or religious reason for not receiving the vaccine.

**Preferred Qualifications: **

- Demonstrates an ability to learn quickly and independently. 
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred 
- Demonstrated problem solving skills required
